Our project
The Institute for Cognitive and Integrative Neuroscience of Aquitaine (INCIA – UMR 5287), located within the Bordeaux Neurocampus, is a leading research center in both fundamental and translational neuroscience. Nearly 100 permanent staff members—including researchers, faculty, and scientific technicians—are distributed across 14 teams investigating the neural mechanisms underpinning three interrelated domains of the nervous system function: cognition, motor control, and addiction.
INCIA’s research spans multiple levels of analysis, from molecular and cellular mechanisms to behavior, using both animal models and human subjects. A strong emphasis is placed on behavioral neuroscience, neurophysiology, cognitive psychology, neuroimaging, and computational modeling. This integrative and interdisciplinary approach enables groundbreaking studies of the central nervous system functions, both in healthy individuals and in pathological conditions, including neurodevelopmental, psychiatric, and neurodegenerative disorders.
