Neurochemistry

The Neurochemistry platform routinely performs assays for:

  • Monoamines and their metabolic derivatives in the nervous system of vertebrates and invertebrates, as well as in biological fluids (blood, cerebrospinal fluid)
  • Neurotransmitter amino acids (glutamate, GABA, aspartate, glycine, taurine, tryptophan, tyrosine)

The platform can also carry out specific analyses (e.g., octopamine, endogenous/exogenous L-DOPA, 5-hydroxytryptophan, 3-O-methyl-L-DOPA, 3-methoxytyramine, etc.) and develop new analytical methods (R&D).

The platform is also recognized for its expertise in intracerebral microdialysis in rodents, including:

  • Measurement of extracellular dopamine and serotonin levels
  • Measurement of extracellular free iron levels
  • Measurement of extracellular levels of glutamate, aspartate, and GABA

The platform can train researchers to inject tissue samples and analyze them.
Work carried out by the platform can be done as part of research projects with academic partners from Bordeaux and beyond, as well as through service-based collaborations.
